Memorial Day is just about two weeks away & for many families it is the weekend that kicks off the summer!! We hope everyone enjoys their holiday- perhaps a 4-day weekend, the BBQ, maybe even opening the pool! It’s a great opportunity to spend time with families and friends. But let’s not forget what the day is truly about; remembering and honoring those who have fallen in the pursuit of Freedom.
We at Live in Pittsford NY want to thank the members of the Armed Services. We especially remember those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for God & country. We stand united with families who have suffered loss, and continue to be incredibly thankful for the freedom we have thanks to their efforts.
This Memorial Day Weekend, take some time to remember.
Visit the Pittsford War Memorial
A great way to pay tribute to the fallen, is to visit Pittsford’s War Memorial. 21 of our Hometown Heroes are listed on it; 21 community members who gave their lives in WWI, WWII, Korea, Vietnam, and Iraq. From the Pittsford Town website:
The monument site provides a space for citizens to recognize all other Pittsford residents who have defended the cause of freedom
The Pittsford Veterans Monument is located in William A. Carpenter Park at the Port of Pittsford, 22 North Main Street.
Go to the Parade
There are Memorial Day parades happening throughout the weekend around the greater Rochester area. If you want to go to the one in town, it is taking place on Monday, May 25th. The parade begins at 10 am, and starts on Sutherland Street. Check out Rochester Kids Out & About for other parades in our area.
