Happy Weekend Friends!
Just a friendly reminder that tonight’s the night! Daylight Savings begins at 2 am, and that means an hour less of sleep- but more sunshine in the evening! So don’t forget to set your clocks 1 hour ahead before you hit the hay!
After this long winter, we are soooo ready for Spring to hit Pittsford! We can’t wait for warmer temperatures, and to get outdoors. As the snow starts to melt, it’s the perfect time to make sure your home is in tip top shape; inside & out! Now that our clocks have sprung forward, it’s time for our homes to do the same- bring on the SPRING CLEANING!
Freshen the Air
Temps are still pretty winter-y, but as it starts to warm up, take advantage! Open those windows and let your home air out; you’ll be surprised how fresh it will make things feel! Even opening things up for 15-20 minutes when it’s still a little chilly, might be worth it! Get that air circulating and relieve your dry & dusty home! … Have to wait for it to get a bit warmer? Pick up a spring scented candle like lilac or cotton!
Clean the Closets
Now’s a great time to clean out & organize your family’s closets. Check to make sure your spring & summer clothes still fit- donate the ones that don’t! Think about packing up all those bulky winter items; snow pants & other outerwear, heavy sweaters, wool socks- we won’t be needing them for much longer!!
Be a Clean Machine
Start at the top and work your way down! Enlist the whole family, and do a hardcore clean of your whole house; start upstairs and work your way down. Now’s the time to get every nook and cranny; hit those spots that you often miss like under furniture or in corners. Dust, vacuum, and if you’re feeling really extreme even do the inside of your windows! Having sparkly glass will let in all that spring sunshine!! And when you’re done? Reward yourself!! Hit up the Pittsford Farm Dairy for a sweet treat!!
Clean the Debris
After the snow melts, you can really see how winter leaves it’s mark! Sweep the driveway, and get the salt and gravel from the snowplow to the street. Rake branches & let some air flow into your lawn. Spending just a little time can help your yard start spring out looking it’s best!!
Check your Exterior
It’s also a good idea to check to make sure winter didn’t cause any damage to your home’s exterior. Spring brings rain, so you’ll want to check those gutters! Particularly if you had any icicles or dams, you’ll want to make sure water will run away from your house, and won’t pool along your foundation. Survey your siding, and your roof, and just make sure things look like they are in good shape.
Taking some time to do spring cleaning inside & out, will help your property shine! Your home is something to be proud of, and you want it to look it’s best. A well maintained home is key when it comes to selling your home; if you are thinking it’s time to upgrade, you’ll get the most for your property if it’s looking clean & organized.
