So, you’ve finally found the perfect place to spread your roots. You spent what seems like forever looking and now that phase is behind you but it’s time to start your next journey: moving! Moving takes a lot of effort and can be extremely stressful. It’s important to make sure that you have a game plan so that you don’t get overwhelmed. Here are a few tips to help make your moving process easier:
The less stuff that you have to move, the easier it will be! Go through all of your belongings and get rid of anything that you don’t need or that needs to be replaced (you can replace things once you have moved). A great way to do this (and make a little cash in the process) is to have a garage sale or donate your items and use it for a tax break. This will not only help you when it comes time to lug all of your stuff to your new place but it will help you have a fresh start!
Packing can be the most time-consuming part of the process. Here are a few tips from You Move Me:
1: LABEL YOUR BOXES
This one is easy: label each box so you know what’s in it, and which room it goes in. This will make unpacking much easier on you. Our boxes come pre-printed with room labels right on them. Find out more about our boxes.
2: THE GOLDEN RULE
The heavier the item, the smaller the box! It’s much easier to carry heavier items when they’re in smaller boxes. Save the larger boxes for things that are lighter, but hard to carry on their own. Never over-pack a box.
3: ONE BOX, ONE ROOM
Pack the same room in the same box. Don’t mix. This way unpacking is easy.
4: NO PACKING ON MOVING DAY
Take on this busy day with all of your boxes already packed. It’s one less stress. This also includes things like removing all pictures from the walls before moving day.

Ask For Help
Moving is a HUGE job. Depending on the size of your move, you may want to hire out or even ask a few friends or family members for help. Offer pizza and drinks in exchange for a helping hand. The more people you have, the quicker and easier it will be!
