A few weeks ago, we brought you news of some of the great fall festivals, one of which is going on now!! (Clothesline Arts Festival)-You can come back and read this later if you need to.) Who knows? Maybe you are an artist too! A little nervous? No worries. Art class is back with a twist of lemon, or lime or whatever else you would like in your drink. As it turns out, calming your nerves might just be the secret to successful painting. Rochester has some very cool venues to give your brush new life. In fact, this whole painting thing has turned out to be a great way to celebrate birthdays, bachlorettes and everything in between and we have a venue in our own backyard:
Apparently, there’s “A little bit of paint. A little bit of wine and a whole lot of fun.” How could we go wrong? In this venue, you actually go to a studio (#byob) to paint. In Rochester there are currently two locations in Fairport and Greece and two more to follow in Webster and Henrietta. While it all sounds like fun, and it is, your attempts at art actually help aspiring artists improve their crafts, and they’re on your side(#easytofollow) : Painting with a Twist (formerly Corks N Canvas) is the largest employer of aspiring artists in the country. The company recognized early on that the talents and enthusiasm of the staff were key elements to the success of the product. In just five years, Painting with a Twist, along with our 235 franchise locations, has produced and owns the copyright to over 3,500 pieces of art. Each artwork was conceptualized and executed by the instructors with the idea of being an easy to follow piece of art for the inexperienced painter. The artwork ranges from landscapes, abstracts and cityscapes, to creative renderings of seafood, animals, iconic buildings and florals. This artwork also helps the community. Painting with a Purpose is a monthly fundraising event held at all locations that raises money for local charities. Gilda’s Club was the most recent recipient in Rochester, NY. Now, let’s just say you want the paint party to come to you. We’ve got you covered.
Now, according to the website, no experience is needed, and there’s a Picasso in all of us, ready to be unleashed. Just bring a friend for moral support and you’re good to go:
“In just about two hours, while you’re sipping on a cocktail, our performing artists will guide you through each painting so that you come up with your own unique masterpiece at the end of the night that you will be amazed YOU created. We provide everything you will need: canvas, paints, brushes and even a smock. You just bring your fun loving friends and have a few cocktails to keep the spirits high and inhibitions to a minimum and we’ll make sure your inner Picasso is unleashed.”
Have a studio in your own backyard or basement or kitchen or wherever you think your inner artist hangs out! You will need to have at least 10 people attend and the cost is $25.00 per person. They will bring the canvas, paint brushes, paint, apron, instructions, and they’ll clean up! Follow their Facebook page to see what masterpieces have been created already and to sign up for your own spectacular event.
