Thanksgiving is the kick off of the holiday season in more ways than one. After Thanksgiving, it becomes socially acceptable to listen to holiday music, decorate for the holidays, and to start spending money on gifts. There are many days in the week following the holiday that promote this. There is Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, Cyber Monday, and Giving Tuesday. Here is an explanation of each day and some sale hacks to make the most of it!
These two words often scare people away from stores for at least a few days. On Black Friday most retailers offer huge sales and promotions that you can only take advantage of once a year. Make sure you do your research and find out which retailers will be offering the deals that you want to take advantage of the most especially if you are looking for a specific item like a TV or gaming system.
Small Business Saturday
Though this day was originally created by American Express, in the last few years there has been a push to support local business during the holidays. On this day many local retailers will offer promotions and unique events at their stores. Think about which local retailers are most important to you and get out and support them by buying your holiday gifts!
For those people who don’t like to brave the crowds on Black Friday, Cyber Monday is the answer! On this day online retailers offer special promotions, it’s a great time to stock up on gifts for your loved ones. Though you won’t be racing people in the stores, it is still important to go into Cyber Monday with a plan because many sites get bogged down by high traffic and things sell out quickly! Do your research in advance and hit those sites first.
This day gives us a chance to give to charities locally, or across the nation. While the other days focus on buying gifts (for yourself or others), giving Tuesday is a time to support the causes that mean most to you! Learn more on their website.
