One of the saddest realizations we’ve discovered about happy hour is all the calories that come with it! You’ve been so good, watching what you eat, only to have all that diligence blown to bits because a cocktail called your name. Fear not! We’ve searched high and low to come up with some alternatives that will get you where you need to go without doubling your waist line! Let’s take a look at these low calorie cocktails:
An Old Fashioned
The key is to keep drinks simple and this one is a prime example. Bourbon, sugar, bitters water and lemon peel. Feeling fancy? Try the recipe yourself. It’s lasted for 200 years! (Can’t say that about a Long Island Ice Tea, and you’ll need to pass on that one if you want to save calories)
Less is more, my amigos. Just make sure it’s not a pre-made mix. Ice, tequila, lime juice and Cointreau. National Margarita Day is Feb. 22nd, so you’ll have lots of practice for next year. (Yes, there really is a website dedicated to Margarita Day and the Facebook page has over 136k likes!)
Low Calorie Mojito
Here’s the deal, just ask for 1/2 of the simple syrup! The rum, mint and soda water, won’t cost you much in the way of calories. Some people even ditch the sugar altogether, but let’s not get crazy here.
Hot-Pepper Infused Vodka over ice.
In the end, it’s really a bootleg dirty martini, but if you prepare a cocktail using this recipe from Emeril Lagasse, you’ll save over 120 calories and a whole lot of salt!
Raspberry Vodka with a splash of cranberry, club soda and a lime
Yes, it’s a long title, but who cares, it’s only 115 calories! Your bartender will be fine. In fact, when we order custom drinks with long titles, we name the drink after the bartender, so it’s easier to order the next round!

Now for all you craft beer fans, you’ll need to stick to the pale ales and light versions of your favorites. If you’re a wine fan, just remember that the clearer the glass the less calories it has and prosecco is always your best bet.
You can keep the “happy” in happy hour by just taking a few extra seconds when you order. A little research goes a long way. In fact, if a move is in your future, or the future of someone you know, I research the market every day and I’ve got those numbers too! Contact me today!
